jannoschI just listened to Telekinesis! all day and I think I’m going to like them very much. They are a Seattle based inde rock band produced by Death Cab guitarist Chris Walla. Funnily, I was wondering the entire day who Telekinesis! remind me of. And obviously there are some influences of Death Cab. Mystery solved!
Their album (Telekinesis, released in April) has these incredible positive vibes. When the weather sucks like it does at the moment, music like this is just (twice as) awesome!

Heard these guys last night on the radio.
The Mary Onettes (I like the name a lot) remind me a little of Shout Out Louds (I like them a lot). Therefore it’s not that surprising that I like their song Puzzles a lot as well. Take a lot look – they’re definitly worth it.

The XX should be well known by everyone reading music blogs (and I’m that self-confident to call our blog a music blog, although we sometimes posted other crap stuff). My ears still hype them, cause they’re this like unexcited, that I can’t stop listen to their music. Two days ago I discovered new material of The XX via hypemachine. They covered/remixed (whatever you like to call it) Florence And The Machine’s cover of Candy Station’s (I have gloomy memories of her being an early 90’s chartbreaker) You’ve Got The Love. So a lot covering is going on, but the final results (both) are pretty decent.

The Sounds are back (LP ‘Crossing The Rubicon’). And they still remind me so much of bubble gum sticking to your shoe. You can’t get rid of them. But they still taste sweet. I like!

This short movie is just phenomenal.
It was filmed in the early hours of a morning in 1976 and suggests a Ferrari speeding through paris. Actually it wasn’t one of the cars from Italy but a Mercedes which’s sound was edited afterwards. Otherwise vibration for camera would have been too hard.

Bat For Lashes has her new single out there (actually since April 5th). So, I knew Bat For Lashes has been a great songwriter, but since I’ve seen the latest video I’m having a little crush on her. OT: Since she is half Pakistani this confirms my thesis of the huge attraction ‘half-people’ provide!

Anyway, this could be one of many reasons why I do like the whole ‘Two Suns’ record this much. Besides the music is great. Obviously!

Das Video ist zwar furchtbar schlecht mit dem Gesang synchronisiert, aber der Song ist einfach der Hammer. Kleines Suchspiel: Im Video ist ein gewisser Herr Michael J. versteckt. Wer ihn findet, darf ihn behalten bzw. mit auf seine Ranch! ^^

Was kann ich zu Lily Electric schreiben? Genau genommen recht wenig bis nichts. Ist aber auch nicht von Nöten. Hören und Schauen und Mögen ist heute die Devise.

Zum heutigen Abschluss meiner persönlichen rekordverdächtigen Empfehlungsserie geben sich Kilians die Ehre. Thees Ulmanns Zöglinge aus Dinslaken haben ihr zweites Album veröffentlicht und ich muss schon sagen, dass ich nicht gedacht hätte, dass es einfach wäre an die großartigen Songs von Kill The Kilians aus dem Jahre 2007 anzuschließen. Dennoch hat es geklappt und allein die erste Auskopplung aus They Are Calling Your Name mit Namen Said & Done ist es wert das Album zu genießen.
Für mich genau die richtige Mischung aus Melodie und rockigem Gitarrensound, auch wenn ich mich teilweise doch immernoch sehr stark an The Strokes erinnert fühle. Das ist jedoch auch alles andere als ein Makel.

… deshalb nennt sich dieses Duo aus Schottland wahrscheinlich auch Marmaduke Duke. Welchen Hintergrund dieser Bandname hat, konnte ich auf die Schnelle nicht rausfinden, aber auch wenn das, was auf ihrem Album zu hören ist, teilweise echt gewöhnungsbedürftig klingt, haben es mir Kid Gloves und Rubber Love echt angetan. Einmal ruhig, einmal etwas dynamischer – ich befinde dies als jute Mische!

Hazel geht direkt ins Ohr und will irgendwie auch nicht mehr raus. Die Junior Boys sind genau das Richtige für Leute die auf lockeren Elektropop à la Hot Chip und Co stehen.

Die meisten bezeichnen sie einfach als Ratten der Lüfte, doch es gibt auch noch die gute Sorte.
Doves aus GB sind zurück. Bekannt geworden durch Caught by the River gibt es jetz ein neues Album namens „Kingdom Of Rust“ und die Songs sind gewohnt tragend und gehen direkt ins Herz.
Am besten gefällt mir bisher Winter Hill, aber macht euch selbst ein Bild.

Der 24. April wird ein toller Tag, denn ein Jahr nachdem Narrow Stairs die Massen begeisterte, bringen Death Cab for Cutie eine neue EP in den Handel. Diese hört auf den Namen „The Open Door“ und beinhaltet 4 neue Songs + ein Demo von Talking Bird. Ob europäische Fans die Möglichkeit haben werden, diese Songs im Handel zu erwerben, ist noch unsicher. Sicher hingegen ist, dass man „The Open Door“ jetz schon bei Amazon vorbestellen kann!
Darauf aufmerksam gemacht wurde ich letzte Nacht im Auto beim wohl besten deutschen Radiosender Motor.fm. In voller Vorfreude auf neue DCFC-Songs, hier die neuste Auskopplung Grapevine Fires mit einem, wie ich finde, äußerst unterhaltsamen Video.
